Control and Certifications

Socado is equipped with a laboratory and skilled human resources specialized in Quality Assurance.
Socado’s technicians, thanks to dedicated tools and technologies, constantly monitor the quality and safety of products, applying at each stage of the production process rigorous control protocols that impose daily microbiological, physical, chemical, organolectic and sensory checks,  both on raw materials and on the finished product.

Thanks to its continuous pursuit of quality in all its aspects, Socado has achieved important certifications over the years concerning FOOD SAFETY AND HEALTH.


ISO 22000 certificate specifying the requirements for a food safety management system involving the very effective and up to date analysis of the risks and hazards in the food chain, optimizing all the processes involved and controls along the production cycle.

BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Food Standard) are international certifications necessary to be in line with the credentials of reliability required by international retailers, particularly attentive to issues of food safety and quality, and particularly rigorous in the selection of potential suppliers of products carrying their own private label.

For Socado Quality also means SUSTAINABILITY, for this reason it has obtained other prestigious certifications ensuring the sustainable production of palm oil and cocoa, key ingredients for the production of chocolate.

Founded in 2004, the RSPO - Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, a no-profit association that aims to promote the cultivation and use of sustainable palm oil. The application of the standard is designed to meet the requirements of customers in terms of their commitment in terms of sustainability of products derived from palm oil and to meet the needs of the major distributors and resellers to certify the sustainability of products and demonstrate commitment to sustainable production practices. (Check our progress at

UTZ is a program involving coffee, cocoa and tea which is aimed at the training of producers in order to improve their professionalism, as well as the performance and sustainability of their farming activities. Farmers are also trained in the field of business management, workplace safety and environmental management.
The traceability system UTZ-Certified is synonymous with transparency in the trade of the goods certified as it ensures that the raw materials have actually been grown and harvested with a sense of responsibility towards the environment. In this way it strengthens the credibility both of merchants and buyers, allowing everybody involved to agree on a reasonable price for goods produced in an environmentally friendly manner.

FAITRADE. The FAIRTRADE Marks are the globally recognized symbols of the international Fairtrade system. Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade based on a partnership between producers and traders, businesses and consumers. With FAIRTRADE, you support farmers and workers as they improve their lives and their communities. Fairtrade Products meet the internationally-agreed social, environmental and economic Fairtrade Standards.

Socado invests also in the quality of its business practices. For this reason, Socado applied for and has passed the prestigious audit SMETA 4 Pillars.

SEDEX. Socado is a member of Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange. Sedex is a not for profit membership organization dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.

Membership is subject to an audit, called SMETA (Sedex Members’ Ethical Trade Audit). The audit is made by an independent third party and aims to check the compliance to criteria of the ethical standards in labour, health & safety, environment and business.
